About tax compliance

At Montu, we make sure that every transaction on the platform is backed legally and for tax purposes. Here's how we operate to ensure full compliance with Chile's Internal Revenue Service (Servicio de Impuestos Internos, SII).

📑 1. Electronic invoice for every transaction

Every time you make a transaction in Montu (whether it's paying for a subscription, a campaign or an affiliate program), an electronic invoice issued by Montu to your company is generated automatically.

These invoices are available in:

  • Your registered email.
  • Settings → Billing ("Configuración → Facturación") on the platform.

🧍‍♂️ 2. Montu manages payments to creators

Montu acts as an intermediary for payments to content creators. This means that:

  • You pay the full amount to Montu.
  • The creator withdraws their funds from their Montu Wallet to their personal bank account.
  • After that deposit is made, Montu issues a third-party services fee receipt (Boleta de Prestación de Servicios de Terceros) in the name of the content creator who received the funds.

This ensures the transaction is formally documented and the payment is correctly identified for tax purposes.

🧾 3. Filing and payment of withholdings

As part of this process:

  • Montu automatically calculates the 15.25% fee withholding tax on the creator's fees.
  • Montu files and pays this withholding to the SII every month as part of its F29 (monthly tax return).

This means you don't need to worry about handling these withholdings individually: Montu takes care of the whole process.
